Process air flow control system PAC
The control of process air plays a major role in many areas of industry, due to the high potential for energy efficiency and process stabilization. Our PAC control unit (Process Air flow Control) can be adapted flexibly to any production type. The system minimizes fluctuations and turbulence in dust extraction systems by reducing and homogenizing the necessary air volume or negative pressure. Settings can be adjusted automatically via hand flaps, to ensure optimal flap position.
PAC
Advantages & Features of Process Air Flow Control using PAC
The PAC (Process Air flow Control) control unit from Riedel Filtertechnik continuously measures the velocity of process air in pipelines and is designed for volume flows ranging from 180 to 7,000 m³/h. An automated control of the process air flow is achieved through a multi-stage damper, ensuring that the air flow remains at a constant level. This allows for optimal energy efficiency and equipment-appropriate regulation, even under varying production conditions. See for yourself the advantages of our PAC for process air flow control:
- Optimized energy consumption: Reduction of energy consumption by up to 40% when combined with an integrated VSD (Variable Speed Drive) on the dust extraction fan.
- Flexible operating modes: Two possible operating modes for regulating the negative pressure in the pipeline.
- Easy operation: Integrated control system with a user-friendly touch panel for process visualization and parameterization. Can be combined with the control of other units, such as our SACU tobtronic® for transport air control.
- Minimal footprint and easy integration: Direct installation of the PAC unit into the process air duct. Retroactive integration into existing production environments is possible.
- Maintenance- and low-risk continuous operation: Use of high-quality components and materials, with the PAC designed for 24/7 continuous operation.
- Status control via LED: Color-coded indication of operating status through integrated LED strips. Quick status check of the production process and fault indication at a glance during operation.
PAC & MAC in the tobacco industry
Application in cigarette production
By directly integrating the PAC unit into the dust extraction line of a maker, the process conditions are automatically controlled and maintained at an optimal level. Our technology designed for this application is therefore established in the tobacco industry as MAC (Maker Airflow Control). The following industry-specific benefits result from the use of the PAC in cigarette manufacturing:
- Significant energy savings of up to 40% due to reduced negative pressure and air flow
- Increase in tobacco yield:
- Higher strand homogeneity
- Improved firmness and quality of cigarettes
- Reduction of cuttings, degradation, fine particles, and dust
- Lower rejection rates at the manufacturing machine
- Reduced heat radiation and noise emissions in the secondary process
MAC as part of Riedel GreenLine
In light of rising energy costs and environmental concerns, optimizing energy consumption in cigarette production is essential. The GreenLine concept from Riedel Filtertechnik is the result of years of research and close development collaboration with our customers. Together with our SACU tobtronic® for transport air flow control, our MAC for process air flow control is an integral part of this concept to achieve the following goals:
- Energy savings
- Emissions control
- Increase in tobacco yield
