Functionality & Application
Use of Venturi Scrubbers for Exhaust Air Cleaning
A venturi scrubber operates by channeling dust-laden air, also known as raw gas, through a specially designed pipe system. Within the venturi tube, the gas stream is accelerated while a washing liquid is injected into the gas flow. The high speed of the gas causes the liquid to be finely atomized, mixing with the dust particles. The dust-binding washing liquid is then collected in a separator. The washing liquid is cleaned through automatic belt filters or time-controlled drain valves that automatically release a portion during operation. The cleaned gas, also referred to as clean gas, exits the venturi scrubber, also known as a wet scrubber. Venturi scrubbers are particularly effective at removing moist, sticky, and/or combustible dust particles, such as those encountered in tobacco processing and sugar production, and can also partially remove gaseous pollutants.
Venturi Scrubbers as Core Elements of Central Dust Collection Systems
As a classic dust collection technology for moist, sticky, and combustible dust, wet scrubbers, particularly venturi scrubbers, often serve as the core element of a central dust collection system. Through extraction systems, dust-laden air is captured at various emission points and conveyed via pipelines under negative pressure to the venturi scrubber. In this way, the dust-absorbing washing liquid can be centrally collected, treated, and discharged. The cleaned exhaust air is also controlled and discharged into the environment.
