Increasing tobacco yield across both the Primary (PMD) and Secondary (SMD) processes is not only economically important but also a key aspect of resource conservation for cigarette manufacturers. The more integrated the technical solutions for tobacco recovery, the more efficient and error-free the production processes become.

With WinU⁺, we offer our tobacco industry clients an innovative and efficient solution for purifying Winnower and delivering it directly to production in a controlled manner. TIRS is an effective device for gently separating tobacco shorts from the aspiration process and returning them online for further processing.

Advantages & Features of Tobacco Recovery with WinU⁺

Every cut tobacco contains winnower, which cannot be processed in cigarettes and is usually either disposed of or returned to the Primary. Our WinU⁺ technology is designed to shred the winnower near the cigarette machine, also known as the maker, into usable particle sizes using a cutting mill. Subsequently, the shredded winnower is automatically and precisely returned online to the maker. The size of the shredded tobacco particles can be adjusted according to customer requirements.   • Online Return of Winnower: Automatic and online return of the already shredded winnower to the cigarette machine. No elaborate manual return of the winnower to the Primary and no mixing of tobacco blends.
  • Flexible Use: Adjustable structure and particle size of the Winnower according to tobacco type. Adjustable dosing for the controlled return of winnower mass flow to the cigarette machine, depending on the production speed (cpm) of the maker.

TIRS

Advantages & Features of Tobacco Recovery with TIRS

Our TIRS has been designed to recover tobacco that would otherwise end up in the central dedusting system. By integrating the TIRS into the dedusting line of the maker, high-quality tobacco particles of a specific size, known as shorts, are gently separated or sieved from the process exhaust air before entering the central dedusting system. This allows high-quality tobacco shorts to be automatically and directly reintroduced into cigarette production without extensive detours. See for yourself the benefits of TIRS for tobacco recovery:

  • Online Return of Shorts: Recovery of high-quality tobacco shorts from the dust extraction line for automatic online return to the cigarette machine – no need for manual intervention and no mixing of tobacco blends.

Maximum separation efficiency and minimal product degradation – particularly in comparison to alternative solutions using cyclone separators or spin separators.

  • Flexible Use: Adjustable structure and particle size of the shorts to be separated according to customer requirements and production parameters. No unwanted separation of excessively small particles and dust.
