Cylcone Separators & Spin Separators
Cyclone separators and spin separators, as bulk separation devices, utilize particle inertia to separate dust and material residues from exhaust air. They are particularly suited for the removal of dry, free-flowing dust with high loads, such as those following dryers. Cyclone separators, also known as centrifugal separators, and spin separators can be used as standalone units but are typically employed as pre-separators in central dust extraction systems. Here, they are combined with downstream industrial filters or other fine filters to create a clean and safe production environment and to meet emission standards.
Advantages & Features
Dust Separation Using Cylcone Separators & Spin Separators
Bulk separation devices are a widely used method for pre-separating coarse dust from industrial exhaust air. Discover the benefits of cyclone separators and spin separators for dust separation:
Effective Separation of Larger Particles
Reliable filtration of coarse, free-flowing dust and material residues from industrial exhaust air. Effective technologies for handling higher dust loads, especially as pre-separators.
Low Maintenance and Risk-Free Continuous Operation
High robustness of cyclones and spin separators against abrasive materials. Very safe and low-maintenance operation without the need for filter media, washing liquids, etc., to be replaced.
Process Combination
Compatibility of pre-separators with other dust extraction technologies, such as industrial filters, venturi scrubbers, or additional fine filters. Optimized design of the entire dust extraction system to enhance performance and extend operational lifetimes.
Low Energy Consumption
Compared to other filtration technologies, cyclone separators and spin separators have lower pressure losses and therefore reduced energy consumption. No additional energy required for pumps, cleaning intervals, etc.
Easy Integration
Simple and compact design of centrifugal and spin separators. Retrofitting into pipelines and existing dust extraction systems is possible.

Functionality & Application
Use of Cyclone separators & Spin separators for Dust Separation
Cyclone separators and spin separators are core technologies in industrial dust control systems. Both separation techniques utilize mass force, also known as inertial force, to separate larger dust or product particles and are therefore also referred to as bulk separators.
Cyclone separators use centrifugal force by introducing the dust-laden air strea
m tangentially into the cyclone. This tangential entry creates rapid rotation inside the cyclone, causing heavier particles to be pushed toward the cyclone wall due to their inertia. These particles then accumulate, slide down, and are discharged. Cyclone separators are also known as centrifugal separators. The cleaned air exits through a central opening.
Spin separators, in contrast, generate a vortex in the air stream, causing particles to be pushed outward to the separator wall by the spin force. The separated particles fall into a collection container, while the cleaned air exits either centrally or from the top of the separator. Spin separators can be used for both vertical and horizontal air flows.
Cyclones & Spin Separators as Pre-Separators of Central Dust Collection Systems
Bulk separators are particularly effective at removing larger particles from air streams and are used in various industrial applications. They often serve as pre-separators before the air stream is passed through the main filter, e.g. an industrial fabric filter with finer filter media. As such, they are a fundamental component of central dust extraction solutions.
Dust-laden air is captured at various emission points through extraction systems and is directed via pipelines under vacuum through the pre-separator and the main filter. The collected dust is gathered through discharge elements and, if necessary, centrally collected, recycled, and disposed of.
